Our Last Day in Paris

Another trip to Paris today! This morning we attended a Mass at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in the morning. The Mass was in French and there were people from all over the world. Before the mass we had the opportunity to walk around the cathedral and learn that it was 900 years old!

After the Mass had finished we had lunch in the Champs de Mars beside the Eiffel Tower. For many of us the Eiffel Tower seemed much larger in real life. To get into the Eiffel Tower, we had to get on a lift, which carried us up to the second floor. The lifts run through the legs of the tower and there are long staircases running through the legs as well. The view from the second floor was amazing - we could see for miles.

Finally, to round up the day, we went on a boat ride (the bateaux mouches) down the river. The water was so beautiful, calm and blue. Afterwards we returned to the Campus where we had dinner and a really fun French lesson. We all ended up singing “Aux Champs Elysees’ with our French teachers.

To bed - we have a prize to see who has the tidiest room and we have another French lesson before we leave.

See you tomorrow!

Our First Day in Paris.

Our morning began at 7:30 when we were invited downstairs to eat breakfast together. We continued our day by entering our one and a half hour French lessons. We were split into two groups with our two teachers who presented us with an interactive and fun session where we all had a chance to improve and use our knowledge of French. We all enjoyed the lessons but still couldn’t wait to get in the coach and journey to central Paris for the first time in our trip.We arrived not long after and were greeted with the large elaborate buildings and the glass modern structures that are dotted all over Paris’ streets. The coach stopped its journey at the gates leading to the Louvre museum, we passed it and took the beautiful walk down to the gardens of Tuilleries where we ate our lunch as a group and talked about what we were going to do for the rest of our time in the city. After sitting in the warm sun for a few minutes we made our way towards the Louvre museum that we had seen before and were split up into groups and were handed questionnaires to answer. We made a small competition for our groups in which we had to take a creative photo in front of one of the most famous statues in the museum. We had free time when we could look around. We even saw some very famous pictures like the Mona Lisa! For the remains of the afternoon we had time to buy some simple souvenirs to remember our day.

When we arrived back at the Campus we were shown the crypt of the Primary School by Monsieur Richard. We then went to the Equestrian Club where we had delicious spaghetti bolognaise and ice-cream. We walked back to the campus and finished off the day with a football match. It was a great day!

Our First Day at Campus Sainte Therese

We were all up bright and early at 7.30 am this morning (6.30 am British time) after a reasonably uneventful night. Some of us were boiling at first because we hadn't worked out how to use the ultra-sophisticated automatic blinds; others were sweltering because our air conditioning wasn't switched on. At last, though, when we had figured out these minor details, we were all able to settle down to a good night's sleep.
This morning we had a delicious French breakfast and we are now in our first French classes with Lucie and Julian - let's hope we learn 'beaucoup'!
At 10.30 am we're off to Paris and we have an exciting day ahead of us - first stop: Les Jardins des Tuileries!
